Swatch Group - Breguet-Swatch plans more stores

New Delhi: Unveiling its expansion plan for India, Swiss watch-maker Breguet-Swatch group has said it would add six more showrooms in the metros by next year and aims to sell 700 timepieces this year. Today in Sify Finance

Breguet, known as world's first wrist watch-maker, launched its 'Jewel in the Crown' series, with 18 products at an entry price of Rs 4.25 lakh here yesterday.

"Our timepieces represent legacy, tradition and culture behind art of watch making. We see Indian market, which also has similar qualities to be in our top five markets," Christophe Viguerie, Breguet vice president (Asia-Pacific) said.

The company has two showrooms in the capital and aims to take this tally to five by this year end, besides opening outlets in the other three metros, Christophe said.

"We are enthusiastic to launch this series in India as we see a great opportunity to tap the rapidly growing niche market in the country," said Rodolphe Schulthess, Montres Breguet's vice president worldwide sales. | Read more Finance news. |

He said, Breguet aims to sell around 600 to 700 pieces this year in India and take this tally to 1,000 by next two-three years.

The company has its presence in most of the leading consumer markets across the world, including Hong Kong, US, Japan, Singapore and Russia. Last year it ventured into China, where it has 10 showrooms.
