I shall advice to ALL sellers, never ever take "someone else check". Not even trust because it cleared you are safe. If signature is forged and check had funds, check will be cleared, and then (after several months, happened to me in seven months) returned check will hit you back, and you will be out of watch and out of money too.
ASK ALLWAYS for WIRE TRANSFER is the ONLY way you are sure.
