It is a portable instrument applicable to the operator’s wrist and used both earth and under-water ambient, both in day or night and in total absence of external illumination. The instrument is essentially formed by the following parts.

1. A diametric stainless steel base on which a compact transparent plexi-glass block cover is clamped watertight. The self-luminous reference line, designed for the reading, is traced along a diameter of the same cover. The bottom of the stainless steel base is provided with an opening, hermetically closed by an elastic membrane, having the object of allowing free expansions of the liquid in which the movable unit is immerged. A hand knitted nylon strap is provided with a stainless steel buckle.

2. The high orientation torque movable unit, immerged in an appropriate floating and dampening liquid. It is formed by a dial having clear readable relief self-luminous indications, under which the small permanent magnets are hung.

The “Luminor Panerai” self-luminous substance, used in the dial and reference dial, is completely separated from surrounding ambient, as it is closed with a special patented system, in the containers shaped according to the indications contours. In this way, one obtains a major neatness of figures, lines and a longer life.
