Swiss watchmaker Audemars Piguet has unveiled a platinum watch that takes its inspiration from an F1 car.

The collection of exclusive 150 platinum retail at £53,950 each, significantly more than the 500 rose gold versions which will retail at £32,650 and the £16,200 titanium editions.

The Royal Oak Offshore Rubens Barrichello Chronograph carries the name of the Brazilian racing driver and contains many features said to be reminiscent of the cars he drives, reports Stuff magazine.

On the watch face, the eight screws are said to look like engine screws, while the pushpieces have been designed to remind us of air extractors.

In addition, the bezel joint is thought to look like ventilated brake discs, with the crown reminiscent of the gearing part.

The watch is finished off with an option of a crocodile hide strap.
